Pregnancy and Postpartum

Informed, Supportive Care

As a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), Dr. Sarah is equipped to help women with specific, safe, and gentle chiropractic adjustments for a healthier pregnancy.   Our treatment room is equipped with a chiropractic table and special pillows that adapt to provide comfortable positions for your ever-changing body.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is vital to assist the normal physiological function of both mother and baby in pregnancy and birth.  There are three main reasons why chiropractic should be a part of every pregnancy:

o   Regular chiropractic care helps provide structural balance and stability for the mother, resulting in a more comfortable pregnancy.

o   Research studies have proven that pregnant mothers who receive chiropractic care during pregnancy tend to have a shorter labor with less medical intervention.

o   Chiropractic care can help to create a healthier and more comfortable in-utero environment for the newborn.

Chiropractic care will also assist your body in recovering from pregnancy changes during the postpartum period.  Your pregnancy may be over but your body may not automatically bounce back to its pre-pregnancy state.  Your body has produced a hormone called relaxin to soften your ligaments and open your joints allowing your pelvis to open wide and birth your baby. This softness allows your joints to become misaligned more easily.  Continuing chiropractic care after pregnancy will help your body re-align, ease back into your “new normal,” and adapt to the new challenges motherhood brings.

Birth Support

Dr. Sarah believes in empowering parents so they can have the birth they want, know what to expect during pregnancy and childbirth, and have the tools they need to deal with the unexpected. Our office partners with a diverse community of birth providers in the Chicago area, including Bradley classes, birth classes, pre- and post-natal yoga, birth doulas, post-natal doulas, midwives, holistic pediatricians, pelvic floor specialists, and massage therapists, just to name a few.  We help connect our patients to the care they need to have the best birth possible.
